Woman threatened with a gun in Sydney car park

Police have swarmed a street in Sydney's west after a woman was threatened by a man armed with a gun.

Police were called to Uhrig Road in Lidcombe at 7.20 am today after the man, who officers say was armed with a handgun, approached the woman in a multi-level carpark.

The man, who was not known to the woman, then drove away in a white Subaru SUV.

Specialist police carried out an extensive search of the area and confirmed no shots were fired.

The woman was shaken but not physically injured.

Police said inquiries have revealed the SUV was fitted with cloned number plates.
