Man 'fled to neighbours before arrest over cannabis plants'

A 43-year-old man allegedly tried to flee into a neighbour's home as police arrived to search his house.

Officers were searching the home of the man from Richardson in Canberra yesterday.

Soon after he got home and tried to go into a neighbouring house, causing damage, police said.

He was arrested and police found multiple cannabis plants, heat lamps and hydroponic equipment, about 3 grams of a substance believed to be methamphetamine, two air-guns and a gel-blaster, and nine vials of anabolic steroids.

He was charged with unauthorised possession of firearms, cultivate a cannabis plant for sale, possess equipment for cultivating a controlled plant, possess drug of dependence, possess anabolic steroid, attempt burglary and property damage.

He is expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday.
