A school bus rollover has left several people injured north-west of Geelong in Victoria.

Emergency services were called to the crash near the Hamilton Highway at Stonehaven about 8.20am today.

Police said several people are believed to be "seriously injured".

Paramedics did not have any more information on the injuries and said their "priority is with their patients".

"An update will be provided as information becomes available," a spokesperson said.

The Hamilton Highway has been closed in both directions between Inverleigh and Geelong.

The Department of Transport said motorists have had almost 30km added to their journey as they are redirected through the Geelong Ring Road, Princes Highway and Inverleigh-Winchelsea Road.

Closures will remain in place until the crash is cleared and investigations are complete.
