Search for hang-glider missing in waters off NSW coast

A search is under way for a missing hang-glider in waters off the NSW Mid North Coast.

Emergency crews were called to Elizabeth Beach, south of Forster, yesterday afternoon after the man was unable to be located.

"A volunteer crew was assembled and rescue vessel Forster 30 deployed," Marine Rescue NSW Inspector Courtney Greenslade said.

"Forster 30 searched late yesterday from Seven Mile Beach to Elizabeth Beach before being stood down for the day at 8.30pm."

"Forster 30 is conducting a parallel-line search with water police from Lindeman Cove in the north to Blueys Head in the south, with communications supported by radio operators from Marine Rescue Forster Tuncurry," Greenslade said.

"Conditions are currently favourable offshore but 20-knot winds and a 1.5 to 2.5 metre swell are forecast later today."
