Retailer to close after a century servicing nation's capital
A century-old family business that has furnished homes across the nation's capital is set to shut its doors for good.
Cusack's Furniture has confirmed it will close later this year, ending a 108-year run that has made it one of the longest-running retailers in the ACT.
The company said the business remained financially stable, with the decision to close due to the next generation of the Cusack family opting to pursue careers outside the retail sector.

Managing Director Peter Cusack, who has spent more than four decades with the company, said the decision marks the end of an era for the family and the community.
"The Cusack family is incredibly proud of the 108 years we have spent supporting our customers and contributing to the ACT community.
"My grandfather founded this business on a small corner in Yass, NSW, and over the years it has grown steadily while remaining true to its local roots.

"It has been a privilege to serve our customers and community for more than a century, and we are immensely proud of the legacy we have created over that time."
He also paid tribute to staff past and present, as well as generations of loyal customers who have supported the business.
All permanent employees will be supported through the closure period, with redundancy and transition arrangements to be provided in line with their length of service.
