Preaching About The Evils Of Wealth Can Make One Very Wealthy… Just Ask Stacey Abrams
We’ve seen it for years: Leftist hypocrisy paying off big. Former Vice-President Al Gore not only won the Nobel Peace Prize for hollering about the imminent doom we’re all facing due to climate change, but he also flew around in private jets and enriched himself with hundreds of millions of dollars in the process.
Last September, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) chose to wear a dress with the words “Tax The Rich” written across her backside, which is fine; dingbats like AOC can wear whatever they want. But the dress itself costs more than what most middle-class folks earn in a week, and she wore it to the Met Gala for which tickets cost $35,000 each.
And of course, there’s Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who lectures us about the wonders of Democratic Socialism while simultaneously owning three homes that are worth several million dollars. Indeed, there is no shortage of examples to use in illustrating leftwing duplicity. And now, we can add former and current Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams to that list.
The headlines yesterday claimed that Abrams had finally “reached millionaire status” in time for her upcoming second campaign to be Georgia’s governor, implying that her reported $3.17 million in wealth was a new development. But it’s not. Abrams was reported to have brought in seven figures before the last election in 2018, and political opponents pointed to that income when calling her out for allegedly evading taxes.
But Abrams’ disclosure of her wealth is significant. It matters because it highlights the conflict with her previous rhetoric and political positions: just like Al Gore, and AOC, and Bernie Sanders.
Sanders himself, who isn’t just a socialist but is also clearly smitten with communism, didn’t just back Abrams in the general election in 2018 as we would expect, he supported her in the primaries as well, along with several other socialists. Abrams has long been a proponent of raising taxes as she’s more than happy to repeat the Democrats’ class warfare language. And of course, Abrams, who is herself black, was quick to support the Black Lives Matter movement and advance the false narrative that she, like all black folks, is a victim of systemic racism and has therefore been deprived of sufficient opportunity as a result.
All of which begs some questions to be answered:
How is it, Ms. Abrams, that someone who opposes capitalism and espouses the virtues of socialism can acquire so much wealth without adjusting their political outlook? How is it, Ms. Abrams, that someone who preaches class warfare and demonizes the rich turns out to be pretty affluent herself? And how is it possible, Ms. Abrams, that we live in a country that is so racist and problematic for minorities like yourself, yet you’re able to somehow attain a small fortune?
America, and the voters in Georgia, want to know, Ms. Abrams.
