One dead, three injured after car smashes into tree

A man has died and three people, including a child, have been injured after a car crashed into a tree in South Australia last night.

The crash occurred in Suttontown in the state's south-east, near Mount Gambier and close to the border with Victoria.

At around 9.45pm, a Holden sedan left Hinton Road and crashed into a tree.

The driver, a 31-year-old man from Millicent, died at the scene.

Three passengers — a 28-year-old man, a 29-year-old woman and a 12-year-old boy — were all injured and taken to hospital by ambulance.

None of their injuries are considered life threatening.

Investigations into the crash are ongoing, with major crash investigators already at the scene.

Anyone with information, dashcam or CCTV footage that could assist police is being urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
