Man, 49, fighting for life after an alleged assault outside bar in Sydney

A 49-year-old man was rushed to hospital in a critical condition following an alleged assault outside a hotel in Sydney's south.

Emergency services responded to reports of an assault outside a hotel along Forest Road in Hurstville shortly before 10pm yesterday.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene before he was taken to St George Hospital in a serious but stable condition and placed into an induced coma.

Officers were told that the man was a patron at the hotel when he exited the premises to speak with a rider of a motorcycle on the street due to the noise level of the vehicle.

After moving the motorcycle, the male rider approached the man and allegedly assaulted him before getting back on the motorcycle and leaving the scene.

Neither men are believed to be known to the other.
