Gunshot victims found in car after brawl broke out at 'planned meeting' in western Sydney

Police say the two men shot following a brawl in Sydney's west may have ties to organised crime as they continue to identify the rest of the people involved in the "planned meeting".

Officers called to Boundary Road in Chester Hill about 10.30pm yesterday were told about 15 people were fighting before two people were shot.

Detective Inspector Kaan McGregor said police believe there was a "planned meeting" before the skirmish broke out.

"The identities of all those people are still being investigated, and the reason for the meeting is not yet determined."

He said police do not know if it was a "planned attack" or if the altercation happened abruptly following an argument.

Everyone involved fled shortly after, but police spotted a black Audi sedan on Ferndell Street in nearby Guildford.

Believing the car was being driven dangerously, police said they tried to get it to stop and gave chase when the driver refused.

When the car stopped nearby, police found a 27-year-old man and a 24-year-old man with what they described as multiple gunshot wounds.

"(The victims) are known to police.," McGregor said

"We have received some information indicating they have links to organised crime."police spotted a black Audi sedan on Ferndell Street in nearby Guildford.

Paramedics took them to hospital in a stable condition with non-life- threatening injuries and police spoke to the driver before allowing him to leave the scene pending further inquiries.

Police said they are investigating how many firearms were used in the alleged attack.

"At least three shot were fired," McGregor said.

Police said they have spoken to the pair "briefly" since the incident, and the men have "cooperated with police direction".

The 24-year-old has been released from hospital, whilst the 27-year-old has undergone surgery.
