Penrith investigated over ex-star's Mad Monday bust
The NRL is investigating Penrith's handling of an alleged Mad Monday incident involving former Panthers player Daine Laurie.
Laurie, who now plays for Canberra, had reportedly been due to face Penrith Local Court after police allegedly caught him with an illicit substance the morning after Penrith's preliminary final loss to Brisbane in September.
According to reports, police officers inspected a vehicle, where Laurie was the passenger and allegedly found 0.37 grams of cocaine.

The court date had been set for November 10 but police withdrew the charges prior to his day in court.
It's understood new laws introduced by the NSW government meant Laurie could have been issued a $400 on-the-spot fine instead of facing court.
Laurie's team reportedly opted for the fine.
The NRL is investigating whether Penrith should have reported the matter to the integrity unit.
A Panthers representative confirmed to AAP the club had been working with the league on the matter in the lead-up to Friday's round-one clash with reigning premiers Brisbane.

The Raiders are due to face the Sea Eagles in Brookvale on Saturday night.
Laurie is unlikely to start in Canberra's clash with Manly but could be selected on a deeper bench.
