'National treasure': Beloved ex-umpire 'Dickie' Bird dies at home

Renowned former Test cricket umpire Harold "Dickie" Bird has died, aged 92.
The Yorkshire Country Cricket Club announced on Tuesday that "one of cricket's most beloved figures" had died peacefully at home.
The Englishman began his career as a cricketer with his local county club Yorkshire before joining Leicestershire.

He was one of the leading international umpires between 1973 and 1996 and umpired three ODI World Cup finals.
The Yorkshire Country Cricket Club described Bird as a "national treasure, known not only for his umpiring excellence but also his eccentricities and warmth".
"He is synonymous with Yorkshire cricket, where he has been one of the most loyal supporters," the club said in a statement on X.
"The thoughts of everyone at the Yorkshire County Cricket Club are with Dickie's family and friends during this time.
"He will be truly missed by all at the club, having spent an incredible amount of time in support of everyone here and will be remembered as one of the greatest characters in Yorkshire's history."
