Everything we know about the suspicious disappearance of Pheobe Bishop

As emergency crews search for missing Queensland teenager Pheobe Bishop, questions are swirling about what happened to the 17-year-old.

Police and search crews have focused the search on the Good Night Scrub National Park outside of Gin Gin, an hour away from where Pheobe was last seen.

There's a lot we don't know, but here's what we do know.

Pheobe Bishop's last known whereabouts

Pheobe was last seen by her housemates on Thursday, May 15. They say they dropped her off outside the Bundaberg Regional Airport at 8.30am.

She had a ticket to fly from Bundaberg to Western Australia with a connecting flight via Brisbane.

She was travelling to Western Australia to visit her boyfriend, however, she never entered the terminal or checked in for her flight.

There has been no confirmed sighting of the teenager or her luggage since then.

Police are treating the disappearance as suspicious and the homicide squad is assisting with the investigation.

No one has been arrested and there are no official persons of interest.

Search area gets smaller as item of interest found

Police yesterday narrowed their search area to bushland near Gin Gin.

They say they have found an item of potential interest in the bushland, but it has not been confirmed what the item is or how it's connected to Pheobe.

Crews conducted aerial, waterways and land searches of Good Night Scrub National Park on Saturday.

Disappearance 'out of character'

In the early stages of the investigation, lead investigators said it was out of character for Pheobe.

"It's out of character for her not to make any contact with anyone," Detective Acting Inspector Ryan Thompson said.

"Police have reviewed CCTV from the airport, which indicates that she did not enter the terminal."

In the family's first official statement since the teen's disappearance on May 15, they said she wouldn't have gone quiet on her loved ones.

"She would never go this long without contacting someone or anyone," Pheobe's mother Kylie Johnson, said.

The devastated mum said the family's "heartache and pain is raw and real", in a social media post earlier in the week.

"We as a family are trying to hang onto the light of life that is our Free Spirited Gypsy Soul Phee Phee," she posted on Facebook.

"Phee we need you home, we need to hear your sassy voice and feel your hugs."

Pheobe's boyfriend told 9News that he was devastated and couldn't believe the situation was real.

Police established two crime scenes

Police previously set up two crime scenes aside from the search area in the national park.

One crime scene was established at a house in Gin Gin where Pheobe lived with her housemates.

Her roommate's grey Hyundai ix35 with registration 414EW3 was also seized by police and declared a crime scene.

Police urged anyone who saw the car heading towards Bundaberg on Thursday to contact them.
